Colin Richards Plate

We have never had rain like this before! Putting across greens that looked like lakes. Half the field came in after 9 holes and waited for the rest of us to finish. Anyway, those who carried on were made of tough stuff as you can see:

  • 1st with 36 points -  Marguerite Townsend
  • 2nd with 31 points -  Clare Stammeijer
  • 3rd with 29 points -  Rob Carey

Thames Valley Cup and Mike Maloney Trophy

A fine day at Dummer Golf Club on March 12th attracted a field of 20 players and the results were as follows:

  • 1st with 38 points -  John Cornwell
  • 2nd with 33 points -  Rolf Stammeijer
  • 3rd with 31 points -  Tony Richards
  • Mike Maloney Scratch Trophy  – Scott Trathen with a gross 87
  • Runner up Mike Maloney Scratch Trophy  – Simon Lawrence with a gross 93


2014

Thames Valley Cup and Mike Maloney Trophy

A chilly start to our Rodeo year at Dummer Golf Club in March attracted a field of 21 players and the results were as follows:

  • 1st with 40 points -  David Hughes
  • 2nd with 36 points -  Peter Lawrence
  • 3rd with 35 points -  Jim Duffy
  • Mike Maloney Scratch Trophy  – Scott Trathen with a gross 82
  • Runner up Mike Maloney Scratch Trophy  – Simon Lawrence with a gross 91

Played at Pine Ridge Golf Club, this competition produced some very good scores by the 20 competitors.

  • 1st with 41 points -  John McCall
  • 2nd with 39 points -  Dave Cartwright
  • 3rd with 39 points – Dave Lindsay

Clemens Cup, Wes Fitzgerald Trophy and Veterans’ Plate

Another sweltering day in 30 degrees for our 2014 gathering. With 31 players, we had a fantastic day’s golf on July 13th followed by a great meal. The highlight was having a large screen in our dining room to watch the Football World Cup final. As the major Competition is the Clemens Cup, John Ledgard was awarded the trophy when he really fancied the Wes Fitzgerald Cup! He could have won either with his score. He can try for the other next year off his reduced handicap!! The results were as follows:

Autumn Plate

Our visit to Ealing Golf Club for the AUTUMN PLATE was another successful day out on this quality course. The results from our 20 players were as follows:

  • 3rd with 30 points -  Rob Carey
  • 4th with 29 points -  John McCall

After floods in 2012, we were sweltering in 30 degrees for the 2013 gathering. With 40 players, we had a fantastic day’s golf on July 14th followed by a great meal. The results were as follows:

Our day at Pine Ridge was blessed with sunshine and high scores. 16 out of 26 players scored 30 points or above. Top scoring John Ledgard went around in gross 73, 11 shots better than his handicap and hs personal best ever score. Well done John The full scores were as follows:

The first outing of the year at Dummer Golf Club on 13th March was the coldest day we can remember. In spite of the chill factor it attracted 23 players and the results for the THAMES VALLEY CUP and MIKE MALONEY TROPHY were as follows:

  • 2nd with 31 points -  Simon Lawrence
  • 3rd with 31 points -  John Molloy

The first outing of the year at Dummer Golf Club on 15th March attracted 29 players and the results for the THAMES VALLEY CUP and MIKE MALONEY TROPHY were as follows:

  • 1st with 35 points -  David Hughes
  • 2nd with 34 points -  Bob Finlay
  • 3rd with 33 points -  John McCall
  • Mike Maloney Scratch Trophy  – Scott Trathen with a gross 82

Our first visit to Pine Ridge Golf Club for the COLIN RICHARDS PLATE on 31st May was well received by our 27 players and the results were as follows:

  • 1st with 40 points -  Anton Serbrock. (Retained trophy for 2nd year)
  • 2nd with 40 points -  Simon Lawrence
  • 3rd with 37 points -  John Molloy

Autumn Plate

Our third visit to Ealing Golf Club for the AUTUMN PLATE was well received by our 17 players on September 13th. The results were as follows:

  • 1st with 32 points -  Tony Richards. (Retained trophy for 2nd year)
  • 2nd with 32 points -  John Molloy
  • 3rd with 31 points -  Andreas Faust
  • 4th with 29 points -  Terry O’Connor
  • Terry O’Connor won nearest pin, Jerry Grant won the other nearest pin hole and David Hughes won the longest drive. Our sincere thanks again to Peter Noblet for his hospitality and generosity

Again, our main event was well supported and a good day was had by all.  For those of you who remember the beef being tougher than the golf, you will be pleased to know that we have been offered an apology and we have arranged something better for 2012.  We will have a PRIVATE dining room and our own menu with waitress service on July 8th 2012.

We all thanked Mike for organising us over the past years and as an expression of our gratitude presented him with a “Ryder Cup Experience” at Celtic Manor, a wonderful album of memorabilia and some lovely bubbly to celebrate his tenure.

Autumn Plate

For the second year, Peter Noblet has laid on a great golf day at Ealing Golf Club.  This is a prestigious course with the best greens around.  I hope next October to include this in our official calendar and see an even greater turn out.  This year’s field was 23 players all of whom found the wind had a greater effect than they had hoped for!. Our thanks to Peter for allowing us to play at Ealing and for supporting the event financially.
